A Fun and Productive Outdoor Experience for Kids & Teens!
The Keystone Initiative Foundation is excited to announce our 2025 Fishing Camp, a week-long program designed to give kids and teenagers from low-income families a fun and productive outdoor experience. Fishing is a great way to teach patience, teamwork, and appreciation for nature while providing an opportunity to connect with others.
Dates: Mid-July, Monday – Friday
Cost: FREE! (A suggested donation of $20 is appreciated to help cover supplies and administrative costs.)
*This does NOT include location, time, or dates for safety reasons. Once you sign up, you will get all the information. Once you get the information, please let us know as soon as possible if it works for you so we can determine how many people will be attending the camp. If you do not reply a week before the camp begins, then your kids will not be allowed to enter the camp. If you do come and did not reply, you will not be given any of the camp's essentials, and you will not be a part of the curriculum.
Each day, campers will enjoy hands-on fishing activities, learn essential fishing techniques, and have the chance to make great memories by the water!
✅ Fishing safety and proper handling of equipment
✅ How to cast, bait hooks, and reel in fish
✅ Identifying local fish species
✅ Teamwork and sportsmanship
✅ Conservation and respect for nature
Hat & Sunglasses (to protect from the sun and stray hooks!)
Long sleeve shirt for sun protection
Refillable water bottle
If any child does not have these items, we will have extras available, thanks to generous donations.
We are looking for volunteers to help make this camp a success! Each volunteer will be paired with 3-4 kids and will assist with teaching, guiding, and ensuring safety. We are also seeking donations from local tackle shops and businesses.
💙 Ways to Support:
Donate in-kind fishing supplies (tackle, bait, rods, first aid kits, coolers, etc.)
Volunteer as a camp counselor (Preferably teenagers, this will count as volunteer hours. Volunteers must understand at least the basics of fishing and must be good with kids. Adults are also allowed to supervise and help.)
Help spread the word in the community!
No fishing permits or licenses are required for campers.
Camp counselors should have a standard fishing license.
All counselors will be equipped with first aid kits, walking tackle, and water bottles.
Safety is a priority! We will cover casting instructions and hook safety at the start of camp.
We are considering having a food truck on-site for parents and families. We are still not sure yet if we can make this possible.
We will take many photos throughout the camp to capture memories and showcase the fun! We will use the app Photo Circle to share photos.
